Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Elwaudio ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is stored and used.

Who We Are

Elwaudio is a software company based in the United Kingdom. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@elwaudio.com.

What Data We Collect

When you purchase and use our software, we collect the following:

Purchase Information

  • Email address (provided at checkout)
  • Paddle transaction ID (from our payment provider)
  • Product purchased and license key issued

This information is collected automatically when a purchase is completed through Paddle.com, our payment provider and merchant of record. Paddle separately collects payment and billing information, which Elwaudio does not have access to. Please refer to Paddle's privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment data.

Activation Information

  • Machine identifier (a hardware fingerprint generated locally on your device)
  • Machine name (e.g. "Joel's MacBook Pro")
  • Activation timestamp

This information is sent to our servers when you activate your license. It is used solely to enforce the per-license activation limit.

Website Analytics

We collect basic, anonymous analytics data when you visit our website:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referrer (the website that linked you to us), stored as a domain name only
  • Country (detected from your IP address via server headers — your IP address is not stored)
  • A short-lived session identifier stored in a first-party cookie, used solely to group page views into a single visit. This cookie expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and contains no personal information.

We do not use third-party analytics services. No data is shared with external tracking or advertising platforms. Analytics data is aggregated into anonymous daily summaries and raw event data is automatically purged after 90 days.

Contact Form

The contact form collects your name, email address, and message, which is sent to us via email and is not stored in a database.

Why We Collect This Data

We collect and process your data for the following purposes:

  • To deliver your license key after purchase
  • To activate and verify your software license
  • To enforce activation limits as described in the EULA
  • To respond to support and contact requests
  • To process refunds when requested
  • To understand how visitors use our website and improve our content

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, we process your data on the following bases:

  • Contract — processing your purchase, delivering your license key, and managing activations is necessary to fulfil our contract with you
  • Legitimate interest — preventing licence abuse through activation limits; understanding website usage to improve our services

How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the EU West (London) region. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

We retain your data for as long as your license is active. If your license is revoked or refunded, we retain the record for up to 12 months for accounting and dispute resolution purposes, after which it is deleted.

Website analytics events are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are aggregated into anonymous daily summaries (page path, view count, session count) and the raw data is deleted. Aggregated summaries contain no personal or session-level information.

Third Parties

We share data with the following third parties, solely for the purposes described:

  • Paddle.com — payment processing and merchant of record. Paddle receives your email and purchase details. See Paddle's privacy policy for how they handle your data.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — infrastructure hosting (database, email delivery via SES). AWS processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate personal data
  • Request erasure of your personal data
  • Restrict or object to processing of your personal data
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@elwaudio.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

Our Software is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on the Elwaudio website. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
